Znany producent układów graficznych firma NVIDIA, na targach 3GSM World Congress zaprezentowała swój najnowszy chip z rodziny GoForce, przeznaczony do montowania w urządzeniach mobilnych. NVIDIA GoForce 5500 to akcelerator grafiki 3D, pełniący również rolę kontrolera dźwięku zdolnego generować efekt surround. Znajdzie on też zastosowanie w urządzeniach z wbudowanym modułem telewizji cyfrowej, gdyż jest on w stanie zapewnić płynne odtwarzanie filmów o rozdzielczości 700x480 (NTSC) oraz 720x576 (PAL) kodowanych przy użyciu H.264, WMV9 i MPEG-4. Jeśli chodzi natomiast o grafikę 3D, to GoForce 5500 jest do trzech razy bardziej wydajny od swego poprzednika, pozwalając m.in. grać w Quake'a III lub Need for Speed Most Wanted bez zauważalnych spowolnień.
